Must do's:

  1. Pilot a stunt plane at Motueka airport is a great once in a life time experience while in town. The views are amazing, even from upside down.
  2. On a clear night, you must try a moonlit guided walk on Kahurangi's Mt Arthur (11pm-3am). It's a totally unique experience.
  3. For a peaceful stroll in a tranquil garden setting visit Kiyosato Japanes Gardens nestled in Decks Reserve.

The best kept secrets:

  1. Talk a walk on the Pelorus track near Picton which has some spectacular views and a great secluded picnic spot.
  2. Rabbit Island is a perfect stop for a picnic, offering free BBQ's and a great swimming beach.
  3. Rabbit Island has an awesome beach area with plenty of bbq's. Just bring your food, swim wear and towel for a fun filled day!

Great food & wine:

  1. The best smoked fish in the area is at The Smokehouse on the wharf in Mapua.
  2. The coffee at the Red Beret on High Street is the best in town.
  3. Toad Hall sell the yummiest real fruit ice creams and have a great range of organic fruit & vegetables. Find them by the roundabout on High Street South.

  1. Climb the Mot Rock at the Motueka Recreation Centre Monday nights 6.30pm - 8.30pm. Adults just $5.00 and the price even includes gear!
  2. Enjoy the space & clean country air at Smiths Farm Park on the Queen Charlotte Drive. Stay three nights and the fourth is FREE!
  3. The Winter Wonderland offered by Kahu Kayaks in Marahau, is a great way to explore the bays and caves at the southern end of Abel Tasman National Park.
