  2. Take a walk through the Orokonui Ecosanctuary to see to some of NZ's most fascinating & rare forest wildlife.
  3. Enjoy the taste of award winning cheese at Whitestone Cheese Factory for only a gold coin donation and observe cheese-making on the weekdays.

The best kept secrets:

  1. You can not go through Oamaru with out having a stone grill from the Galleon Restaurant. They are so mouth watering and so affordable!
  2. There are fabulous views of Mount Cook from Benmore Walkway, Oamaru. Enjoy this 1.5 hour loop track from the south side of the Benmore Dam.
  3. Spend a relaxing hour or two in a quiet & peaceful haven at the Victorian Garden, situated at the mouth of the Oamaru Creek & only a 2 min walk from the Oamaru.

Great food & wine:

  1. The Harbourside Bakery in Victorian Oamaru has 2-for-1 loaves of great bread like ciabatta & olive bread on Tues & 2-for-1 huge crispy pastry pies on Thurs.
  2. You must try our award winning locally brewed beers at the Invercargill Brewery! Stop in for a tour & taste test or buy from their own bottle shop.
  3. For the best fresh fish and fresh veggies, go for lunch at Fleur's Restaurant in Moeraki.
