Must do's:

  1. Catch a free 10 minute movie which tells the story of the pioneering spirit of New Zealand outlining Oamaru's history. Shows 9am - 5pm daily at Oamaru i-SITE.
  2. At low tide, go have a look at the Moeraki Boulders. These strange spherical boulders are situated on the beach 40kms south of Oamaru.
  3. Take a one day adventure on Hump Ridge Jet, a wild jet boat ride on the Waitautahiri River!

The best kept secrets:

  1. Bill Richardson's Truck Collection is the best kept secret in Invercargill. It's an amazing collection of over 170 restored vintage trucks.
  2. You can not go through Oamaru with out having a stone grill from the Galleon Restaurant. They are so mouth watering and so affordable!
  3. Dixie & Kay run the gorgeous Lavish Soap Shop, a charming business near Victorian Oamaru which makes a variety of traditionally handcrafted soap.

Great food & wine:

  1. You must try our award winning locally brewed beers at the Invercargill Brewery! Stop in for a tour & taste test or buy from their own bottle shop.
  2. For the best Japanese food in town head to Bonsai. Delicious & a great value!
  3. For the best fresh fish and fresh veggies, go for lunch at Fleur's Restaurant in Moeraki.

  1. In Dunedin, see Athol's interesting Old Town Heritage Walk & Andrew's Hair Raiser Ghost Walk. Right now it is only $50 for both!
